How this role works

1. You join the bench. We name you (with a short bio) on proposals that match this role, always asking you first. Consent costs you nothing and commits you to nothing until an award funds.
2. A contract is awarded. Federal SBIR awards fund the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins, at an hourly rate agreed before you were ever named.
3. You work remote, paid from the contract. ~40–80 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.

What you’ll do

• Review our engagement, coordination, and effectiveness models against real weapons-system behavior.
• Tell us where an automated engagement or coordination claim would be operationally unacceptable.
• Check our claims about timelines and effectiveness before they reach an evaluator.

Required qualifications

• Direct experience with weapons systems, fire control, or engagement coordination.
• Working knowledge of a fielded fire-control or terminal-defense system.
• Willing to be named in a federal proposal with your consent, each time.

Preferred qualifications

• A service weapons program office, a test organization, or an operational unit.
• Experience with weapon-target pairing or effectiveness analysis.

Compensation & structure

1099 consulting engagement. $100–$125 per hour, confirmed in writing before you are named on any proposal. Hours are funded by federal contract awards — roughly 40–80 hours across a 6–12 month period of performance per funded award, fully remote. No award, no hours, no obligation.
