How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~120–600 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Run the safety planning effort day to day: schedule, scope, deliverables, partners and the client relationship
- Shape our crash analysis, high-injury network and systemic risk work so it holds up under Safe System principles
- Guide engagement, equity analysis and project prioritization into an action plan that meets SS4A eligibility requirements
- Review our data, maps and recommendations before they reach the client, and tell us where a countermeasure or claim does not hold up
- Help turn the plan into fundable implementation projects and keep the work on track toward adoption
Required qualifications
- Project management experience on transportation safety planning or roadway safety projects for a public agency
- Hands-on work applying the Safe System approach, including crash analysis and countermeasure selection
- Direct experience developing, delivering or implementing an SS4A comprehensive safety action plan or comparable Vision Zero plan
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience with SS4A planning and demonstration grants or implementation grants, including grant reporting
- Familiarity with the Highway Safety Manual, proven safety countermeasures, systemic safety analysis and state crash databases
- PMP, PE, AICP or RSP certification
- Background with city, county, MPO or state DOT safety programs
