1099 consultant · ~120–600 hrs per funded award · $30–$80/hr · Remote (U.S.)

Transit Scheduling & ITS (CAD/AVL) Specialist

Keep our transit work grounded in how service is really scheduled, published and run, from the GTFS feed to the CAD/AVL system in dispatch and on the bus.

About Precision Federal

Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.

How this role works

  1. You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
  2. A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
  3. You work remote, paid from the contract. ~120–600 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.

What you'll do

  • Review our GTFS and GTFS-Realtime handling, schedule data models and stop and trip mappings against how agencies actually build and publish service
  • Tell us where an approach breaks on real AVL data, real dispatch workflows, or real blocking and runcutting
  • Lead or guide CAD/AVL implementation work: requirements, vendor integration, acceptance testing and go-live
  • Check claims about on-time performance, data quality and real-time accuracy before they reach the Government

Required qualifications

  • Direct experience in transit scheduling, service planning, or GTFS data production at a transit agency, consultant or vendor
  • A hands-on role on at least one CAD/AVL implementation, ideally as lead, carried through testing and go-live
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
  • Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment

Preferred qualifications

  • HASTUS, Trapeze, Optibus, Remix or comparable scheduling and planning tools
  • CAD/AVL platforms such as Clever Devices, Trapeze, INIT, Avail or Swiftly
  • GTFS-Realtime, GTFS-Flex, TCIP, APC data, or National Transit Database reporting

Compensation & structure

1099 consulting engagement. $30–$80 per hour; we set your rate from your résumé and experience. Hours are funded by federal contract awards — this seat is scoped at roughly 120–600 hours per funded award, fully remote. Work and pay begin only if the contract is awarded — no award, no hours, no obligation.

Join the bench — Transit Scheduling & ITS (CAD/AVL) Specialist

Every application is read. It takes about 5 minutes.

  • This is a bench, not a job offer. Work starts when we win a contract that needs you.
  • We may name you on proposals. If that contract is awarded, you do the role at the rate and hours we agree on.
  • Paid hourly as a 1099 contractor; full-time roles may be W-2. If your background fits, we will email you.
