About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~160–800 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Set the research direction and serve as Principal Investigator on our tactical networking work, from technical approach to final report
- Design and test MANET and DMO scheduling approaches and network performance prediction models against realistic link and mobility conditions
- Build the network-analytics methods that turn raw telemetry into something an operator or planner can act on
- Tell us plainly where a result holds up, where it doesn't, and what experiment would settle it
- Write and review the papers, technical volumes and briefings that carry the work to the Government and the research community
Required qualifications
- PhD in electrical engineering, computer science, or a closely related field
- Published research in MANET or DMO scheduling, or network performance prediction
- Research experience in network analytics, such as traffic modeling, telemetry analysis or learning-based performance models
- A publication record in peer-reviewed journals or conferences in wireless networking or a closely related area
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Prior PI or co-PI role on a funded federal research award, such as DoD, DARPA, AFRL, ARL, ONR or NSF
- Hands-on experience with ns-3, OMNeT++, EMANE, or hardware radio testbeds
- Familiarity with tactical data links, waveforms or military radio programs
- Active security clearance or the ability to obtain one
