About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~120–600 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Review and shape the security architecture of the systems we build and operate, from network segmentation to identity, logging and data protection
- Lead incident response when something happens: triage, containment, eradication, recovery and a clear account of what went wrong
- Write and exercise incident response plans, playbooks and tabletop scenarios that people will actually follow under pressure
- Tell us plainly where a design is exposed and what control, configuration or monitoring would close the gap
- Work face to face with Government staff in Southern Nevada to brief findings and coordinate response
Required qualifications
- Based in the Las Vegas / Southern Nevada area and able to work on site
- Current CISSP certification
- Current GIAC Certified Incident Handler (GCIH) certification
- Hands-on experience leading security architecture or incident response for an organization's systems
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Security work for state, local or federal government, including CJIS, NIST 800-53 or NIST CSF environments
- Experience with SIEM, EDR and log analysis tools such as Splunk, Microsoft Sentinel, CrowdStrike or Elastic
- Digital forensics or threat hunting experience, or additional GIAC certifications such as GCFA or GCIA
- Cloud security architecture in AWS, Azure or Microsoft 365
