How this role works

  1. You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
  2. A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
  3. You work remote, paid from the contract. ~60–300 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.

What you'll do

  • Test our web applications, PDFs and reports against WCAG 2.1 AA and the Section 508 standards before they reach the Government
  • Produce the conformance evidence an agency accessibility office accepts — ACRs, VPAT-style reports, remediation logs
  • Tell us where an interface breaks for screen-reader, keyboard-only and low-vision users, and how to fix it in the code, not the summary
  • Review our automated accessibility gate and say what it misses

Required qualifications

  • Direct experience testing software or documents for Section 508 / WCAG 2.1 AA conformance in a delivery role
  • Working knowledge of ARIA, screen readers (JAWS, NVDA, VoiceOver), color-contrast and keyboard-navigation testing, and PDF/UA remediation
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
  • Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment

Preferred qualifications

  • Trusted Tester certification or comparable federal accessibility credential
  • Experience with an agency Section 508 program office, HHS, VA, DHS or DoD accessibility reviews
  • Familiarity with axe, WAVE, ANDI or Accessibility Insights

Compensation & structure

1099 consulting engagement. $30–$80 per hour; we set your rate from your résumé and experience. Hours are funded by federal contract awards — this seat is scoped at roughly 60–300 hours per funded award, fully remote. Work and pay begin only if the contract is awarded — no award, no hours, no obligation.
