About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~80–400 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Design and run interviews, focus groups and observation in Portuguese, and write guides that sound natural to the people answering them
- Code and analyze qualitative data, and turn the findings into clear insights on what drives or blocks a behavior
- Shape social and behavior change strategies, messages and materials so they fit local language, norms and daily routines
- Tell us where an approach will not land in Mozambique, and check our claims about communities before they reach the Government
Required qualifications
- Fluent spoken and written Portuguese, able to conduct and analyze research without an interpreter
- Direct experience designing and leading qualitative research, including interviews, focus groups and thematic analysis
- Hands-on social and behavior change (SBC) experience, such as formative research, message design or SBC program design
- Work or research experience in Mozambique
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience on donor-funded health, nutrition, agriculture, WASH or governance programs
- Familiarity with SBC frameworks such as COM-B, the socio-ecological model or human-centered design
- Working knowledge of a local Mozambican language such as Emakhuwa, Xichangana, Cisena or Elomwe
- Experience with NVivo, Dedoose, ATLAS.ti or MAXQDA, and with research ethics review
