About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~160–800 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Scope the cardholder data environment and challenge segmentation claims until the boundary is proven
- Lead control testing against PCI DSS v4.0.1 requirements and gather evidence that would hold up to a QSA review
- Write findings, compensating and customized control analyses, and remediation plans that system owners can act on
- Guide our engineers and the customer's staff through ROC, SAQ and AOC preparation, and tell us plainly where a control falls short
Required qualifications
- 10 or more years of hands-on PCI DSS assessment, consulting or compliance work
- Current or former PCI SSC Qualified Security Assessor (QSA) or Internal Security Assessor (ISA) qualification, or equivalent lead assessor experience on QSA-led engagements
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- PCI DSS v4.0 / v4.0.1 transition and customized approach experience
- Payment environments at federal, state or local government agencies, or at payment processors serving them
- Related credentials such as PCI PFI, P2PE, 3DS, CISSP, CISA or CISM
- Familiarity with NIST 800-53, FedRAMP or FISMA alongside PCI DSS
Compensation & structure
1099 consulting engagement. $60–$125 per hour; we set your rate from your résumé and experience.
