How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~200–1,000 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Be on site in Bay St. Louis to monitor, restart, patch and swap out what our remote engineers can't reach
- Work the first pass on incidents: gather logs, check hardware and connections, and give a clear handoff when it needs escalating
- Keep run books, tickets and site notes accurate so the next person can pick up exactly where you stopped
- Tell us what the people using the system run into day to day, so we fix the real problems and not just the reported ones
Required qualifications
- Two or more years of hands-on production support, field service or onsite technician work on live systems, applications or hardware
- Live within commuting distance of Bay St. Louis, MS, and able to be on site on a regular schedule and for urgent calls
- Comfortable with ticketing, basic networking, log collection and clear written handoffs
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience supporting work at a secure federal, defense or research facility, including badging, escort and change-control rules
- CompTIA A+, Network+ or Security+, or comparable certification
- ServiceNow, Jira or a comparable ticketing system
- Windows and Linux administration basics, or experience with lab, test or industrial equipment
