Model-Based Definition and PLM Data Engineer

Help us move product definition out of drawings and into data, with PLM integration, STEP AP242 and JT models, and GD&T and QIF metrology data that factories and inspectors can trust.

About Precision Federal

Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.

How this role works

  1. You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
  2. A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
  3. You work remote, paid from the contract. ~120–600 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.

What you'll do

  • Build and review integrations with Teamcenter or Windchill so parts, revisions, BOMs and released models move cleanly between systems
  • Work with STEP AP242 and JT data, including semantic PMI, and tell us where translation drops or garbles what the designer meant
  • Connect GD&T on the model to QIF measurement plans and results so inspection data traces back to the requirement it checks
  • Check our claims about MBD maturity, data fidelity and interoperability before they reach the Government

Required qualifications

  • Hands-on experience integrating or administering Teamcenter or Windchill in an engineering or manufacturing setting
  • Working knowledge of STEP AP242 and JT, including how PMI is authored, exported and validated
  • Solid understanding of GD&T (ASME Y14.5 or ISO GPS) and how it carries into inspection and metrology data such as QIF
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
  • Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment

Preferred qualifications

  • Defense, aerospace or shipbuilding programs that deliver technical data packages under MIL-STD-31000
  • CAD authoring in NX, Creo, CATIA or SolidWorks with model-based PMI
  • CMM or metrology software experience such as PC-DMIS, Calypso or PolyWorks
  • PLM customization or APIs such as Teamcenter ITK/SOA, Windchill REST or PLMXML

Compensation & structure

1099 consulting engagement. $45–$105 per hour; we set your rate from your résumé and experience. Hours are funded by federal contract awards — this seat is scoped at roughly 120–600 hours per funded award, fully remote. Work and pay begin only if the contract is awarded — no award, no hours, no obligation.

Join the bench — Model-Based Definition and PLM Data Engineer

Every application is read. It takes about 5 minutes.

  • This is a bench, not a job offer. Work starts when we win a contract that needs you.
  • We may name you on proposals. If that contract is awarded, you do the role at the rate and hours we agree on.
  • Paid hourly as a 1099 contractor; full-time roles may be W-2. If your background fits, we will email you.
