About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~500–1,040 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Review the current vehicle electrical and network specifications for each bus and light rail fleet before anything is designed
- Design the power, mounting and onboard network architecture for new passenger information screens
- Direct the installation crew and visit the vehicles in Minnesota at key points in the retrofit
- Seal the electrical drawings and the retrofit design specification, and sign off on acceptance as the engineer in responsible charge
Required qualifications
- A current Professional Engineer license in Minnesota, in good standing (electrical preferred)
- Completed transit vehicle or similar vehicle retrofit projects as the responsible engineer: low-voltage power, harnesses, mounting, onboard networks or routers
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Work for a transit agency or a bus or rail vehicle manufacturer
- Experience with passenger information, fare, camera or vehicle location equipment on buses or light rail vehicles
- Based in or near Minnesota
