About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~40–300 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Lead in-person focus groups and workshops in and around Sacramento, from warm-up to wrap-up
- Help shape discussion guides, agendas and activities so each session answers the questions it was planned to answer
- Keep the room balanced and respectful, drawing out quieter participants and handling strong opinions with care
- Capture what was said accurately and turn it into clear notes, themes and takeaways our team can act on
- Tell us when a question, an exercise or a session plan will not work with the people we are bringing in
Required qualifications
- Direct experience facilitating in-person focus groups, workshops or community meetings, ideally for public, nonprofit or research clients
- Comfort working with participants from many backgrounds, including members of the public with little prior contact with government
- Based in the Sacramento area and able to travel locally to in-person sessions
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Experience facilitating for state, county, city or federal programs
- Training in qualitative research methods, human-centered design, or facilitation such as IAF certification or Technology of Participation (ToP)
- Bilingual facilitation, especially in Spanish or another language widely spoken in the Sacramento region
- Experience with participant consent, privacy and note-taking practices for research sessions
