1099 consultant · ~120–800 hrs per funded award · $25–$60/hr · Remote (U.S.)

Fleet Electrification Lead & Project Manager

Lead our fleet electrification work and keep it grounded in how buses, chargers and utility service actually come together, with occasional in-person events in Northern Illinois.

About Precision Federal

Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.

How this role works

  1. You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
  2. A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
  3. You work remote, paid from the contract. ~120–800 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.

What you'll do

  • Plan and run our fleet electrification work, keeping scope, schedule and stakeholders moving together
  • Review our fleet transition plans, charging analyses and duty-cycle assumptions against how vehicles are really used
  • Tell us where an approach breaks on real routes, real depots, real utility timelines or real operator behavior
  • Turn EV fleet monitoring data on energy use, charging and uptime into findings a fleet manager can act on
  • Represent the work at community and stakeholder events in Northern Illinois when needed

Required qualifications

  • Three or more years of hands-on fleet electrification experience
  • Project management of fleet electrification work, from planning through deployment
  • Two or more completed EV fleet monitoring or data analysis projects
  • Available to attend occasional in-person events in Northern Illinois
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
  • Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment

Preferred qualifications

  • Electric school bus experience with K-12 districts, or electric bus work with transit agencies
  • Charging infrastructure planning, utility make-ready programs and load management
  • Fleet telematics and charge management platforms
  • PMP or comparable project management certification

Compensation & structure

1099 consulting engagement. $25–$60 per hour; we set your rate from your résumé and experience. Hours are funded by federal contract awards — this seat is scoped at roughly 120–800 hours per funded award, fully remote. Work and pay begin only if the contract is awarded — no award, no hours, no obligation.

Join the bench — Fleet Electrification Lead & Project Manager

Every application is read. It takes about 5 minutes.

  • This is a bench, not a job offer. Work starts when we win a contract that needs you.
  • We may name you on proposals. If that contract is awarded, you do the role at the rate and hours we agree on.
  • Paid hourly as a 1099 contractor; full-time roles may be W-2. If your background fits, we will email you.
