Drupal DevOps & Site Reliability Lead

Keep a large family of Drupal sites fast, patched and up, and lead the pipelines, hosting and on-call practice that make that boring in the best way.

About Precision Federal

Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.

How this role works

  1. You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
  2. A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
  3. You work remote, paid from the contract. ~200–900 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.

What you'll do

  • Own the build, test and deploy pipelines for a multisite Drupal codebase, from Composer and config sync through release to production
  • Design and run the hosting stack: web tier, database, caching, CDN, search and file storage, sized for real traffic and real spikes
  • Set service levels, monitoring and alerting, and lead incident response, postmortems and the fixes that keep problems from coming back
  • Keep core, contrib modules and the platform patched on a steady cadence, including security releases that cannot wait
  • Mentor engineers and site teams on safe releases, backups, restores and the habits that keep dozens of sites healthy

Required qualifications

  • Several years running production Drupal at scale, including at least one multisite or many-site platform you were responsible for
  • Hands-on CI/CD and infrastructure as code, such as GitHub Actions, GitLab CI or Jenkins with Terraform, Ansible or similar
  • Working depth in Linux, PHP-FPM, Nginx or Apache, MySQL or MariaDB, Varnish or Redis, and a CDN
  • U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
  • Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment

Preferred qualifications

  • Acquia, Pantheon, Platform.sh or Drupal on AWS or Azure with containers or Kubernetes
  • Experience in a FedRAMP, FISMA or NIST 800-53 environment, including patching and vulnerability remediation evidence
  • Observability tools such as New Relic, Datadog, Prometheus and Grafana, or the ELK stack
  • Drupal 7 to 10 or 11 migrations and upgrades across many sites

Compensation & structure

1099 consulting engagement. $40–$95 per hour; we set your rate from your résumé and experience. Hours are funded by federal contract awards — this seat is scoped at roughly 200–900 hours per funded award, fully remote. Work and pay begin only if the contract is awarded — no award, no hours, no obligation.

Join the bench — Drupal DevOps & Site Reliability Lead

Every application is read. It takes about 5 minutes.

  • This is a bench, not a job offer. Work starts when we win a contract that needs you.
  • We may name you on proposals. If that contract is awarded, you do the role at the rate and hours we agree on.
  • Paid hourly as a 1099 contractor; full-time roles may be W-2. If your background fits, we will email you.
