About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~200–900 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Serve as principal investigator or co-PI and own the research design, the analysis plan and the findings
- Run evaluability assessments that tell us honestly whether a program is ready to be evaluated, and what it would take to get there
- Design multi-site impact studies that allow for real differences in how each site runs the program
- Check our data, measures and claims against how courts, crisis teams and victim service providers actually work
- Write and review findings for peer-reviewed journals, practitioner audiences and the Government
Required qualifications
- PhD in criminology, criminal justice or a closely related field
- Peer-reviewed publications in criminal justice evaluation, or in human trafficking or victim services evaluation
- Hands-on experience with multi-site impact evaluation and evaluability assessment
- Able and willing to serve as principal investigator or co-PI on a funded award
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Research on extreme risk protection orders, crisis intervention, or treatment courts such as drug, mental health or veterans courts
- Evaluation work with human trafficking survivors or victim service providers, including trauma-informed data collection
- Prior PI or co-PI role on federally funded justice research
- Quasi-experimental methods such as propensity score designs, regression discontinuity or interrupted time series
- Experience with IRB review, privacy certificates and data sharing agreements with courts, police or service providers
