About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~80–400 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Co-lead the research plan with us and own a defined piece of the technical work from your institution
- Review our detection, tracking, pose estimation and navigation approaches against what the literature and flight data actually support
- Tell us where a method breaks on real aerospace imagery: motion blur, glare, scale change, sparse labels, or sensor drift
- Design experiments and evaluation protocols that will hold up to Government technical reviewers
- Co-author technical reports and papers, and point us to the datasets, benchmarks and prior work we should build on
Required qualifications
- Faculty, research scientist or equivalent appointment at a university or research institution that can take on a subaward
- Published research in computer vision applied to aircraft, spacecraft, UAS or other aerospace platforms
- Hands-on experience with modern vision methods such as deep learning detection, segmentation, tracking, visual odometry or 3D reconstruction
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Prior role as PI or co-PI on federally funded research
- Experience with flight test imagery, onboard or edge inference, or vision-based navigation
- Work with infrared, multispectral or event cameras alongside visible imagery
- Familiarity with export control practices for aerospace research
