About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~200–800 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Design course sequences and modules for advanced computing topics such as HPC, parallel programming, cloud and research data workflows
- Write clear learning objectives and the assessments that truly measure them, from short checks to full performance tasks
- Build and maintain autograded labs, with test harnesses that give learners useful feedback and hold up at scale
- Serve as Co-PI: shape the education plan, track learning outcomes, and help write the proposals and reports
Required qualifications
- Experience designing technical curriculum for computing, engineering or data science learners at the university, research or professional level
- Hands-on experience building autograded programming labs or assessments, using tools like Gradescope, nbgrader, Autolab, GitHub Classroom or custom harnesses
- Working knowledge of assessment design, including objective alignment, rubrics, item analysis or validity evidence
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Teaching or training experience in HPC, parallel computing, cloud or research computing (Slurm, MPI, containers, Jupyter)
- Prior PI or Co-PI role on a federally funded education, training or workforce award
- Graduate degree in instructional design, learning sciences, computer science or a related field
- Ties to a research computing center, campus cyberinfrastructure program or a community such as The Carpentries
