About Precision Federal
Precision Federal is a small business building AI, data and software systems for government agencies. The company’s founder loves God, and the company is built on Christian faith: every number we publish is real, every claim we make is verifiable, and the work is done with excellence as service to God. Faith is welcome here and openly shared.
How this role works
- You join the bench. You apply with your weekly hours and start time. We set your hourly rate from your résumé, and we may name you on proposals that match this role. If we don't win, you owe nothing.
- A contract is awarded. The award funds the team named in the proposal. Your engagement begins at the hourly rate we agreed on.
- You work remote, paid from the contract. ~120–600 hrs per funded award — and if no award ever funds, you owe nothing and lose nothing.
What you'll do
- Serve as PD/PI or multiple PI and own the scientific direction, aims and integrity of the work
- Shape study designs, imaging protocols and analysis plans so they hold up for substance use populations
- Review our data pipelines, models and claims against how neuroimaging and addiction research is actually done
- Tell us where a finding is solid, where it is fragile, and what the literature already shows
- Help write and defend the research strategy, approach and publication plan
Required qualifications
- PhD in neuroscience, psychology, psychiatry or a related field, with a research focus on addiction or substance use disorders
- A record of human neuroimaging research, such as fMRI, PET, structural or diffusion MRI, shown through peer-reviewed first or senior author publications
- Eligible and willing to serve as PD/PI or MPI on a federally funded research award, with institutional support where required
- U.S. citizen or lawful permanent resident (U.S. person)
- Willing to be named on a federal proposal with a one-page resume, and to sign a short letter of commitment
Preferred qualifications
- Prior PI, MPI or co-investigator role on federally funded addiction or neuroimaging research
- Hands-on experience with FSL, SPM, AFNI, FreeSurfer, fMRIPrep, CONN or comparable tools
- Experience with large or multisite imaging datasets such as ABCD, HCP, UK Biobank or ENIGMA
- Background in clinical studies with people who use opioids, stimulants, alcohol, cannabis or nicotine
